Rashad Hasanov, Director of Spektr Center for Research and Development responded to the questions of “day.az” on prospects of economic development in southern regions. In order to assess the level of economic development of the region, a number of socio-economic indicators of Lankaran economic region were reviewed and analyzed.

Lankaran economic region consists of Lankaran city and administrative districts of Astara, Lerik, Yardimli, Masalli, and Jalilabad. The territory of the region is 6,07 sq. km which covers 7% of the total country’s territory and the population of the region is 927.7 thousand which covers 9.4% of the total country’s population.
